Job Description for Council Treasurer


  1. Oversee fiscal management and insure proper receipt and disbursement of funds to and by the statewide independent living council (SILC)
  2. Serve as chairperson for the SILC finance committee
  3. Report current fiscal status of organization at meetings of the SILC
  4. Work with SILC and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) staff on budget development for the State Plan for Independent Living
  5. Collaborate with finance committee and staff to develop a budget for the SILC resource plan
  6. Facilitate development of new independent living leaders within the state.

  1. Knowledge of or aptitude for budgets and finance
  2. Knowledge about centers for independent living and independent living services; and the roles of the Council and Centers for Independent Living
  3. Ability to represent individuals with disabilities while working with others from diverse backgrounds
  4. Experience actively participating in meetings
