Job Description for Council Secretary


  1. Oversee the recording of minutes of meeting of the statewide independent living council (SILC) and SILC executive committee
  2. Serve as chairperson for the SILC membership committee
  3. Coordinate the review of membership applications, and identify and recruit individuals to submit applications to serve on the SILC
  4. Assist other officers with planning efforts of the SILC
  5. Represent the SILC and ILCW for purposes of recruitment and member development
  6. Facilitate development of new independent living leaders within the state

  1. Comfortable networking and communicating with individuals and organizations the scope and function of the SILC for purposes of recruitment
  2. Knowledge about centers for independent living and independent living services; and the roles of the Council and Centers for Independent Living
  3. Ability to represent individuals with disabilities while working with others from diverse backgrounds
  4. Experience actively participating in meetings
