Individual Systems and Advocacy

Individual Advocacy - Centers assist individuals with advocacy as well as teach individuals how to access community services and independent living. Individuals will learn how to address their own rights to full inclusion within their communities.

photo of woman in wheelchairILCs provide supports and training for individuals to be involved in activities to make positive changes in the community that makes it possible for all persons with disabilities to live more independently. This can result in new legislation, expanded benefits and services, as well as improved community service areas. ILC staff members, Board, and consumers address systems issues such as disability policy, civil rights, accessibility, funding for support services, discrimination, transportation, housing, and economic justice. These systems changes are sought at the local, state and national levels.
